UrbanGlass is considered by many to be the best resource for glass artists in NYC. Many glass artists get their start here. Classes are offered during the week and weekends and include techniques such as: glassblowing, hot casting, kiln casting, lampworking, fusing, slumping, neon, mosaics, stained glass, coldworking and jewelry making. Find out more at their next Open House - Sunday, March 9 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm. And if you are a student or senior you are in luck - they offer a discount for all rentals in the hot shop during certain hours. Check the Web site for details.

UrbanGlass has been sponsoring The Bead Project for the past ten years. The Bead Project is a scholarship program designed for economically disadvantaged women. Women have the chance to learn the art of glass beadmaking and jewelry making. Participants also learn how to market and sell their work. You still have a few days to catch the The Bead Project 10th Anniversary Exhibition - but hurry - it ends February 17, 2008.
