I am a painter, illustrator, sculptor & screen printer. Being raised in Rockaway Beach, NYC, there is an unbelievable amount of inspiration. From the obvious; the Atlantic Ocean and beach to the unexpected; old dilapidated bungalows, abandoned factories, rusted half sunk tug boats, the elevated A train line, graffiti etc.
The typical beach town is far away from what Rockaway is, but not from what Rockaway was only about 50 years ago. I have been documenting this forgotten town to celebrate the “unsavory” sights of this quirky peninsula. I love simple silhouettes, intricate ornate details, irony and creepy pop surrealism. My clothing line and art reflect the mixture of the two, showcasing my intrigue with both.
This piece of art is acrylic on canvas.
