Anne DePasquale - Couture Millinery
Anne DePasquale describes her work as “retro glam” and we would have to agree that Anne’s millinery work is very high glam with a sexy retro twist to it. The look is hugely popular with urban women. Anne was trained in theatrical millinery.
DIY City mag caught up with Anne recently to ask her more about her Spring 2008 line. She noted that she is returning to a theme she used in her 2002 line - one in which she plays on the pinup girl look with that age-old favorite material - fishnet. One hat from her Spring 08 line will be featured in a book to be released in the fall. The book is still untitled at this point, but is being shot by Timothy White and will be published by Harper Collins. The book will feature Hollywood celebs inspired by pin ups girls and one of them will be wearing one of Anne’s “Fishnet” hats from her Spring 08 collection. Anne notes, “nothing says Pinup better than fishnet”.
Anne graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in textiles and she has worked with some of the top designers in the fashion industry. Along the way she had a strong desire to reconnect with “artisan craft”, so she went to work under renowned milliners Arnold S. Levine and Rodney Gordon. After spending time learning millinery “the old fashioned way” - working with her hands, she made her way to launch her independent label - Anne DePasquale.
You can buy Anne’s hats and accessories in upscale NYC boutiques as well as online at Smashing Darling. All hats are custom made to your specified head size and fabrication. Anne’s motto is “FREE YOUR MIND AND YOUR HEAD WILL FOLLOW”. So check out her work: annedepasquale.com.
