New metal into Organic aged beauties

bracelet.jpg

While browsing Etsy this morning I came across AccessoryAlamode - The bracelet above made me laugh as I’m on my way to the doctor this morning to find out the sex of my third child. “Never say Never” - My oldest is 16 and my youngest is 15. So, I’m starting over I guess you could say.

I love the look of her jewelry - Earthy - Urban - Vintage. She grew up with a woodworker/metalworker father & mom who would crochet just about anything. She knew she was destined to LOVE designing & crafting!

“This designs screams simple sophistication and will go with your blue jeans to your little black dress!” Handstamped and paired with an swarovski crystal.

This is the one I want with the names of my children stamped on it. There is just something about the funky look of her jewelry that sets it apart from your typical run of the mill made in sweatshops jewelry. She turns new metal into organic aged beauties! So if you are looking for that special gift for the next baby shower on your list - consider AccessoryAlamode!

Whatever your little one might dream up I’m sure Wovenplay has the costume.

“Rediscover the long lost art of imaginative play of childhood dress-up. Through fantasy and creativity, children compose, dream up and happen upon endless voyages.” Wovenplay

Small Magazine - a delight for the eye

small.jpg

We discovered small magazine about the same time we were launching DIY City Mag and managed to swap ads right before our first issue went live. Since then we have followed each issue of small. It is such a delight for the eye - even if your children or not small anymore.

The photo above was taken by Grant Cornett, styling by Oliva Pintos - Lopes, and flower design by Nicolette Owen. This is just one example of the many photos you will be delighted to find in small magazine.

In each issue you find stories about artists and designers that have an impact on children. Randy Kaplan is one you will not want to skip over. I love Randy’s story of how he became one of the best children’s musicians around.

Interested in contributing to small magazine?

“Small is a magazine of creative work on a small scale and for the small sized. Although primarily for children’s products and designs it is also about small-scale productions. We are looking for people that are interested in play, children, childhood and the child within and who produce high quality work and independent products and design on a small-scale.”

Baby, Baby, Bibs

Welcome to my regular DIY Baby posts here at DIY City Mag Blog. Every week I will bring you ideas for the DIY little ones in your life.

These are a must from BeanPickleSprout on Etsy. Every baby should be in style when wearing a bib. You can choose from the Spring Splendor Bird Bib that is made from a multi-colored floral cotton print fabric. The layer of fleece should really add absorbency. And the little pearl snap is not only a cute addition it will help keep baby’s little hands from pulling it off. But my favorite touch is the appliquéd felt pink bird with the blue beak.
Spring Splendor Bird Bib
My favorite for a little boy is “Bird In The Wheat” - Made from a cream print with a navy blue bird appliquéd on the front.

And who wouldn’t adore this precious little bib “Little Bird In The Flowers” - made from a colorful vintage flower print fabric?

That’s not all you will find at BeanPickleSprout - She makes these wonderful stuffed animals - such as Dylan the Turtle Snuggle Buddy and Jane the Turtle Snuggle Buddy.
