Scrap 4 Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation - Fundraiser a Success

On April 19th, the Scrap 4 Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation (SBTF) Fundraiser was held at Roberts School Community Center in Acworth. Over 35 participants came to enjoy a day to work on their scrapbooks with six vendors present to help with products and layout suggestions. Vendors from TLC, Close to my Heart, Creative Memories, Classy Coordinates, Heritage Makers, and Stampin’ Up were on site and performed demonstrations and gave advice to the ladies in attendance. Each lady received a door prize so everyone went home happy! Lunch from Firehouse Subs was provided for the participants to keep everyone full and scrapping! Arden McIntyre won the silent auction for a three night scrapping retreat at Camp Crop A Lot- a great weekend for a great cause!

However, amidst all the fun and sharing of ideas, over $1000 was raised for the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation. The SBTF (www.sbtf.org) awards grants to doctors who are researching brain cancer and looking for a cure. As host, this was the important part to me. My mother has brain cancer and it is a type of cancer that does not have a positive outlook. Brain cells are just too darn smart to treat effectively, and unlike some other types of cancer, you can’t just cut out part of your brain. Even if you don’t use it, you can’t do without it!

This donation will go to team Mommy Power, my team in the Race for Research. The Race for Research is the fundraiser the SBTF holds in July as their primary means of supporting the grants. The SBTF is proud of the fact that 97% of its funds are directly given back in the form of grants. If you would like to also help team Mommy Power you can go to www.raceforresearch.kintera.org and choose donate, then team, then Mommy Power.
